Masonry & Carpentry

We are building a skilled workforce for the construction sector in carpentry and masonry.  Our students graduate as professional masons and carpenters, certified by the Kenyan National Industrial Training Authority (NITA).  They are qualified to work as employees in both large and small construction firms and as entrepreneurs, building their own businesses.

Masonry & Carpentry Year One

Students in Year One gain the basic knowledge and foundational skills necessary to be successful in the construction industry.  This year focuses on the knowledge and skills required to perform the duties of an assistant which include identifying and properly using tools, equipment, and materials, workplace communication, team work, safety, and housekeeping.  This year also includes on-the-job basic practical experience.

Masonry & Carpentry Year Two

Students learn to perform standard masonry construction and repair with a concentration on building layout, as well as laying brick, block, and stone. This year includes a focus on advanced safety skills including safe site conditions, tool safety, and the proper use of all heavy machinery. During this year, emphasis is also put on the specialty trades within the industry.  Students will choose a specialty at the end of the year.

Masonry & Carpentry Year Three

Students select their specializations as they learn to perform complex construction, masonry, and repairs.  They become professionally skilled in a wide variety of building techniques, learn to use the full range of masonry tools, and develop expertise in blueprint reading. Upon graduation, students are prepared to lead small projects, oversee teams, and solve complex carpentry and masonry problems.
